Æthereals (also written Aethereals or Ethereals, also known as the Starborn) are a race originating in the Plane of Æther.

Physiology

Compared to Humans, Æthereals are generally small and waifish, though some Æthereals are exceptionally large. Their eyes and hair generally come in comparitively exotic colors: blues, purples, pinks, yellows, and pastels.

Æthereals are able to fly unassisted in elemental planes, excepting the Plane of Void, with a form of instinctive druidic magic. This is especially necessary in their home plane, where they would be otherwise virtually unable to navigate their surroundings.

Æthereals are capable of photosynthesis, significantly reducing their need for food while sunlight is plentiful. They need to consume the meat of a freshly-slain animal capable of druidic magic from time to time or they will begin to be afflicted by Starstarved syndrome.

Culture

Æthereal culture is shaped by their habitat. They are almost always exceptionally familiar with astronomy, for obvious reasons. Most Æthereals never leave the Plane of Æther, but those who do will be eager to learn all they can about the "lower lands".

Æthereal clothing is generally white with blue, purple, and/or pastel-colored accents. Robes and other loose-fitting clothing are a favorite, as are large ribbons tied into bows. Such ribbons are generally worn over the chest, about the waist, or on the wrists.

Æthereals are generally relatively pacifistic, but are generally known to have extraordinary talent for learning magical and physical combat techniques alike.

Common Æthereal given names include Nadesan, Kavin, Selvam, Kagram, and Thelmure for males and Kanni, Doleria, Averi, Solera, and Tarlin for females.
