The Godhand Monastery had stood for hundreds of years in the mountains high above Panoulis, inside of it rested some of the fiercest warrior-monks the world had ever seen. Men and women dedicating their lives to Laserrion, believing wholeheartedly in the message of enlightenment through honing of the body and mind. One such monk was Ivar, the Ringer of Bells. The Monastery was a place of learning and enlightenment but it was not without its politics. Its teachers were given other duties and titles fitting of their 'station' by the Abbott of the monastery. Some would be given the title "Master of Students" as the ultimate teacher, some would be given the "Beauteous Silence" should they take the vow of silence and still overtake their peers, but the "Ringer of Bells" was a title given to those the Abbott wished to curb. Those with potential for greatness or mischief were placed in a dead-end monastic job, ringing the monastery bells on the hour. It took immense physical strength, and those who were chosen for it were required constantly to keep in shape in body, but forgo training of the mind as the conditioning was intense. Ivar had developed his strength to the point that he could strike the bell and ring it, as opposed to pulling the ropes as others did, and consequently felt he'd mastered the position.
His request to be moved was denied by the Abbott and Ivar was infuriated. He felt cheated, slighted, held back, and unfairly persecuted for simple acts of idiocy in his youth. He petitioned the Abbott twice more and was rejected twice more, so his strategy changed. He began challenging higher ranking monks, using most of his strength to overpower his opponents. As he reached the masters of the temple he found himself defeated over and over, not standing a chance against many of his opponents. Rather than give up Abbott decided that the reason he was failing so revoltingly was because they were old masters of styles he was only trying to imitate. Was he to win he would need to design his own style. Consequently Abbott decided to name his style "Fist of the Planes" and try and travel as much as possible to formulate a style based on the world he saw.
