Early Life[]
The Kvemul family were a highly strict sect of clerical magicians that broke off from the Polis Academia in favor of training themselves in what they considered a more spiritual version of magic. What this unfortunately entailed was swallowing the uncommon Raymes' Beauty plant, which allows the user to channel ambient magic inside of their stomach. Swallowing the plant can easily cause an early chain reaction to cause the user to immediately sear their internal organs. However, whether by chance or birthright, some can survive without setting off the initial reaction. Caem was one of them, one of only 3 in the current crop of children able to survive, a record low for the Kvemul. Caem was babied a great deal as a child, told often of how large and scary the world was, and specifically how it hated their family. He learned to despise and look down on other magics that didn't use his breath style of combat.
Adolescence[]
Caem was often called upon as the leader of the three who had survived, the other two girls Kalla and Nesse, worked with him often in some of the harsher tests that the trio underwent. Caem's position was only given as the only male, in truth he was two years younger than Kalla and three years younger than Nesse, and there was little love or respect from the two and Caem. While the girls had one another to confide in and trade issues, Caem was often left to his own devices, which sent him into the library of the Kvemul manor. He often read from the tomes of training and combat, but Caem's primary interest had always been in the tales of the Schwarzlowe. He gained an intimate and deep knowledge of the stories within, and it influenced much of his outlook on life. However, at the age of fifteen, Kalla and Nesse made good their escape, leaving the Kvemul manor to hide out in the nearest town. Only three days later, the inn they were staying in informed the Kvemul that they'd gone home with a strange man who had gotten the two drunk. The two were abducted and presumably killed. Neither made it back alive. This left Caem in the frustrating position of being the center of all attention in his house. Eventually, when he reached 17, Caem fled, to wander for a few years, his general direction being the Polis Academia but his primary goal was anything anywhere.
