Namiji Fesher is a Malkan merchant and active political operative with substantial shadowmancy abilities.

Biography[]

Namiji was born the son of a struggling Malkan brewer and his wife. With the help of wealthier friends, Namiji taught himself to read and do accounts, and upon reaching adulthood took on a substantial share of his father's business, whereafter his father's business partners found themselves in renegotiated contracts - to their detriment.

With his family's new wealth, Namiji expanded business and collected books and other rarities from traders. He married the daughter of a middling knight and had several children.

By thirty, Namiji had acquired an extremely rare tome on shadow magic, and had begun to learn its secrets. He became involved with Malkan government through Cals Janza, a respected friend of his wife's father, who would later advise Gorn on military matters. Over the years, several of the autocrat's staunchest political opponents have met untimely deaths or recanted earlier accusations without explanation.

When he was age 51, Namiji's wife died in a tragic accident involving a chariot. His eldest son took her place as second-in-command of the family business.

Namiji is well acquainted with many Malkan businesspeople, and is particularly close friends with Arke Lisla, a grain merchant and horse breeder.

Personality[]

Namiji is a stern businessman with a darkly humorous streak. He has a particular love for fine wines, and takes great pride in his own vintages. Despite his mercantile success, he is not ostentatious, and typically wears mute, if finely made clothing. He has great affection for his children.
