Longarm: Due to the length of your arms, you are exceptionally proficient at throwing things. |
- Strange, mostly friendly humanoids, elves stand slightly taller than humans with arms reaching almost to their knees and long, spindly fingers; their faces markedly different in an unsettlingly bestial manner, with a wide, flat nose akin to a feline's snout and narrow eyes.
Elves live in family units of three to eight members, presided over by the eldest female present in the group for as long as she is firm. If no female elder is present in the unit, it will be led by a male member instead, and it is common for families without a matriarch to merge into other families if there are no viable female heirs in the group.
Family units are mostly nomadic, though some do live in established towns, often alongside other races with one family sharing a house. Most children in nomadic families will never know their fathers, as they would be from other groups.
Elvish names generally follow a first and last name structure, indicating an individual and their family as with humans. Family names generally have a prefix and an actual name, with the prefix indicating the climate of the areas they lived in. Common prefixes are tir (tɪər) for snowy regions, te (teɪ) for forested areas, ty (taɪ) for arid areas or deserts, and tyn (taɪn) for coastal regions or grassland. Some elves may also eschew a family name entirely, if they left their family young enough; there is no stigma attached to this behaviour and elves without family names are often able to reintegrate into a new family later in life. Once a family name is accepted, it is for life; formally, an elf only accepts their birth family's name at the age of 19.
In terms of cultural armaments, elves tend to use spears to augment their already considerable reach and as throwing weapons, and spiked or jagged gauntlets for grappling when the enemy is up close.
