An heirloom is a special item, usually a weapon, that is specific to a character. In almost all cases, heirlooms are used by a character from the first day of his or her adventure until the last. Heirlooms are often actual family heirlooms, passed from generation to generation, but may also be an especially exotic weapon that there may not be more than one of.
Properties[]
Rarity[]
All heirloom items have their rarity listed as unique.
Item level[]
Heirloom armors and weapons have no item level. Bonuses usually granted by armors and weapons per item level are instead granted by a character-specific armor type. A character with an heirloom should start with such an item listed in his or her equipment in order to simplify the DM's task of creating equipment for the character. For example, the Clockwork Repeater used by Drej Tinerim can be upgraded with bolt racks. To specify as such, a plain, level 0 bolt rack, the Clockwork bolt rack, is listed on his character sheet alongside the Clockwork Repeater itself.
Abilities[]
Heirloom items generally grant a passive ability but may grant an active ability instead. It should be noted that adding such an ability to an heirloom item consumes one of a character's ability slots.
