Magic is the method by which beings interact with ambient magical energies in order to perform actions that defy the usual laws of nature. It is possible, through magic, to create matter out of nothing, teleport long distances, and even to obtain immortality. Because of the high potential for abuse of such power, magic is heavily regulated. The study of magic is divided into five schools of thought. These five schools are used widely, whether they have the good graces of the Polis Academia or not.
