Manticores (sometimes called maneaters) are a species of chimera with the body of a red lion, an unusually Human face, the wings of a bat, and the tail of a scorpion, with three rows of razor-sharp teeth like a shark. They are most common within the Burning Desert, but can also be found further north or in the Plane of Fire.

Behavior[]

Manticores hunt by using their tail to launch poisonous spines at its foes. This poison has a paralytic effect. Once its prey is poisoned, the manticore will devour it whole, clothes, armor, and all. Due to their habitat, manticores usually subsist on Orcs and Minotaurs, as well as the odd traveler. Manticores almost always hunt alone.

Manticores will focus on using Paralytic Spines to disable its foes from range. Should they stun a foe, they will use Winged Pounce to get into position and then use Devour to remove that foe from combat and recover some HP. If it is having trouble keeping at range, it will begin to Maim foes (focusing on those who are afflicted by Mantitoxin).
