The Dark Star Pentarion, also known as the Mighty Pentarion, is one of the ten Demiurge's which the religion of Demiurgism focuses on. Pentarion is the protector of the dead, as well as the chief warrior among the Demiurge gods. He protects those who pass into the afterlife from the demons and old gods who stalk the unseen world, and his earthly worshipers fight against necromancy and evil wherever it can be found. Despite many of his negative connotations, he is still respected by followers of Demiurgism for his more positive aspects of honor, wise and just rule, and commitment to ones ideals. His followers congregate in the Temple of Pentarion, which lies in the Northwest of Avylon at the edge of the Twisted Wood

On top of being seen as a grim and dark entity, Pentarion is also revered for his qualities of discipline and self-sacrifice. He is often depicted as a great swordsman, the best of the Ten. Pentarion values commitment and sacrifice and this is embodied in his earthly champions, the Knights of the Black Temple, who sacrifice their liveliness in order to use the magics of shadow, blood, and death in order to fight against the same dark forces who abuse these powers. On top of their duty as guardians against the supernatural, the temple of Pentarion also cares for the deceased and helps those afflicted with sickness. Priests of the Black Temple are counted as great healers and plague doctor.

In addition, Pentarion is believed to have great respect for women and their earthly followers often reflect this.

As the lord of the dead, Pentarion is often believed to embody the stillness and calm that comes with death. He is a quiet demiurge, one who protects his wards from the shadows and very rarely meddles in the affairs of the mortal world. As such, he is the opposite of Agrevolo, the god of madness, and in the Ballad of the Ten and other Demiurge texts he is often said to clash with his opposite in numerous invisible conflicts. The followers of Pentarion are especially hostile towards those who associate with Agrevolo, which often includes bandits and anarchists, and as such the Black Temple Knights do not hesitate to dispose of such individuals when they come across them.
